So I got a new switch and whenever I want to play a digital game without internet, it tells me “checking if software can be played” after waiting about 3 seconds, it tells me I can’t open the game and prompts me to connect to the internet. The thing is this didn’t happen to my release day switch, which makes me extra confused. For example, theoretically, If I disconnected my Switch from the internet forever, would I still be able to play my digital games? I know Xbox has some authentication thingy, and my ps4 (just once) had to authenticate my digital purchase of Everybody's Golf even though I was online at the time, but it never did it while I was offline. The only single player thing you can't do in D3 fully offline is the one-off check for playing seasonal characters (i.e. you have to go at least for a couple of seconds online after launching the game, if you wish to play seasona characters, to prevent cheating), but you can play non-seasonal characters however much you wish offline. My switch SAID it was the primary console but after deregistering it and then reregistering it the games are now playable without an internet connection. Thanks a lot!
